The roof of the stadium, which will total 25,600 square meters, will protect fans up to the railing that separates the audience from the football field.
The first part of the framework to support the roof that will cover the spectator seats was installed on August 28th in the northern sector of the stadium. After the pre-assembly on the ground, the frame of approximately 83 tons was hoisted by a crane located in the area outside the stadium. This frame will completely cover the spectator seats of this sector, and is 98 meters long and 54 meters wide and weighs 250 tons.
This frame will be hoisted in five steps as illustrated below. The protection area will total 5,300 square meters.
Once the installation over the stands is finished, the installation of the following three components that will complete the roof will begin: a trapezoid-shape tile, the insulation, and the membrane.
The stadium roof, which will total 25,600 square meters, will protect fans up to the railing that separates the audience from the football field.
Roof – a trapezoid-shape steel tile shall be installed directly onto the roof’s metal frame.
Insulation - The roof insulation consists of polyisocyanurate foam plates of closed cells that are coated with a layer of fiberglass on both sides that are resistant to flame propagation. Its composition is free of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which contributes to the preservation of the ozone layer.
Membrane - The membrane roof covering is fully waterproof and resistant to wind. The lightness of the components allows quick assembly. The system adapts to various architectural geometries, and meets the standards for sustainability and for the "green building” certificate, as required by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) .
The covering chosen for the stadium has durability and is resistance to tears, punctures, UV exposure, weather conditions, degradation, ozone layer, chemicals and abrasions. The covering does not use plastic ingredients or hydrochlorides, and has an unlimited shelf life.
